My Experience

My first internship began on January 3rd, 2022. I did an internship with PT Sarana Mukti who is in Jalan Ratu Ratuh IV kav 2 Tlogosari Kulon, Semarang. Sarana Mukti is a company working in the area of subcontracting. That day, I immediately met my intern supervisor, Mas Ozy, who was a draftsman at the company. I also met with Mbak Anis, a company employee, and Pak Bakhri, a corporate handyman. I did my internship with three people, Diva, Shifa and Azhar. They belong to the same class as me.

The first task given to us on the first day by Mas Ozy was to draw a 2-storey house plan using AutoCAD with the condition that 60% is the building area and the rest is the garden. It's recommended to draw according to company standards. We spent 3 days working out the plans that were immediately reviewed. In fact, I made a lot of mistakes such as calculating the axle line, the roof, and also visualizing the house. After that, Mas Ozy inspired the house I would design, namely a house with a modern design and a flat roof.

The next day, I went back to drawing the floor plan using the visualization of the house proposed by Mas Ozy. And, my first problem was to calculate the stairs as well as the scale of the interior to adapt to the original size. Between the drawings, we often begin to discuss the difficulties we face, one of which is the scale used for the existing interior. After my drawing was done, I started asking again for revisions that were finally accepted with 3 existing revisions.

The next task I had after the floor plan was the cut and look of the plan we had done. I often ask Google questions about the shape of the staircase and also about the location of the existing structural columns. While on the visualization, I look for references from Pinterest who has a very extraordinary house shape. In the revision activity for the cutting, it was recommended to me to add a rolag foundation to the terraces to strengthen the terraces to withstand the loads that will be obtained. Then, for the visualization, I had no revision as it seems that what I did was consistent with Mas Ozy's wishes.

Besides cutting and visualization, we were also assigned to make plans and details of the river stone foundations and footplates used for the house. Then Mas Ozy taught us how to use Sketchup to draw a 3D view of the form of our home. In the meantime, we also learned how to download data on the Bulog site and rewrite the RAB in Excel. In addition, every month, Mr. Mawahib Effendi, who is a supervisor of the school, visits our internship site to recap the attendance of the internships.

In May, we went to the field for the first time in Gunung Pati, in the Ayodya residential complex. Visiting the field was something I was very surprised about because at the beginning of our internship, there was no plan to be placed on the field. Visiting the grounds is fun though. Besides acquiring new knowledge such as reading floor plans, making plates and columns, we got to know the workers and foremen who worked there.

On June 24, 2022, Mr. Mawahib took us away from school because our internship period was over. I am very happy with this internship activity, I like the process as well and will not waste the knowledge I receive.  From that internship experience, I also had a lot of experience about the beauty and bitterness of the workplace.
